Are Tea Party participants the "radical kooks" Spiro T. Agnew warned us about?

Nixon's glorious vice president Spiro T. Agnew said, before he went to prison for embezzlement, that the "silent majority" of Americans should beware of "anti-government kooks" that were having rallies at the time (1969 era). His solution was seen at Kent State University. Was Spiro a prophesier of today's Tea Party participants?
