How many of you have a 24 hour call out service for your boiler?

I am with a company who claim that although they have a 24 hour line will only come out if there's an emergency like water coming through the ceiling, which really isn't much good if your boiler is broken. So I said 'what happens to old people in winter time? Do they have to spend the coldest night of the year with a broken boiler? The reply was 'If there's a danger of illness, no, but wouldn't we all suffer without heating on the coldest night of the year? What's your contract like?
